We have had many people ask our thoughts about the District 54 race. We do not take doing endorsements lightly and have had countless conversations regarding the candidates in this race as well as many opportunities to meet with each of them. Several people have also sent us various links to web sites, news articles and the like and with that it becomes even clearer that each person really needs to do their own research on each candidate in each race. By the same token, we as the WSCA board believe that since we have had extensive time with those running, that we have somewhat of a responsibility to share our thoughts with you.
This in NO WAY is trying to usurp your own ability to decide, each person has to go with their own conviction and vote for the person that best represents their values. We have certainly found however, that those in this race are not as they seem at face value and only after delving deeper and with more persistence have we been able to get a clearer picture. Integrity and honor and world views are equal in our opinion to where one stands on the issues, as you know the WSCA is a conservative group, and so we feel very strongly about that.
Please check into the candidates yourself. Google can turn up many issues that can be verified. Talk with others who may have some insight and /or firsthand knowledge of those running.
We have done the above and have found Ray Scott to a man who we believe will go to Denver and stand up to the lobbyists and special interests. It is not his objective to be all things to all people. He has a grasp of the issues and understands the needs of the Western Slope. He has worked in oil and gas for years; has been in the valley for 30 years and married to his wife Roxie for as many. They have raised their two daughters here and now have two grandsons to consider and with that come wisdom and maturity. He knows what is at stake for his family if our State does not see a major turnaround. –And as a 20 year business owner he has an in depth knowledge of how to make a business work and profit. These are all excellent qualities to take to Denver and we are as confident as we can be that Ray Scott will honorably represent the people’s seat.
If you have not had an opportunity to meet with Ray Scott we would encourage you to do so and learn on your own the depth of knowledge he has of Western Slope issues and the enormous responsibility he feels in representing District 54.
Thank you for your time and consideration,
Jen Bailey – President of WSCA and 9:12
